The person building Firstclue

I’m a data scientist about to become a father for the first time. Firstclue started because I wanted a better clue about who my child was going to be, so I could be a better parent for that specific child from the start.

The astrology apps I tried were warm but shallow. The parenting books were rigorous but generic, written for any child rather than mine. I wanted something deeper, something I could return to as they grew. So I built it.

Firstclue cross-references three independent systems (Western astrology, Chinese astrology, and numerology) because each one sees what the others miss. The chart math uses Swiss Ephemeris, the same astronomical library professional astrologers use. The synthesis is written for parents, not for astrologers.

The first portraits went out to a small group of testers earlier this year. Their feedback is the reason I kept going. Several said the portrait described their child more accurately than they expected. That’s the bar I’m working to.

My own child is due in October 2026. The portrait I’m building toward is the one that helps me show up for them as the specific person they are, not the generic baby every parenting book is written for.
